Hi, my name is Evelyn, I was actually a Marine Biology major, but during quarantine, I came to realize that my heart was no longer into science. I live in Miami Shores, Florida and I love to create, you probably didn’t notice but last Halloween I was sitting in the Makerspace every day working on a costume. If you see a box filled with a black dress and some test tubes, I would like to inform you that the liquid is inedible because it’s made from glue, water, and acrylic paint. I also love to watch animated TV shows, and each character has a personality that can be used for inspiration in a story or drawing.
I believe a short story is a way to help the reader understand the characters’ point of view. I like to think that the short story also has a hidden meaning. My example is the stories found in an SAT or ACT; the question usually is phrased like this; What does this quote reveal about [insert character name here]. The story is just long enough to get the point across without going into full detail.
I love literary fiction, it’s an escape from stress and reality, and reality is very stressful as of now. Speaking of stress, I stress out about my writing not being good enough for others. I have no confidence when it comes to writing; I am worried that everyone will see the first sentence and think, “this is too weird for me” or “other people disliked so this must be horrible. I’d like to mention I also have anxiety, so I worry about others commenting on grammar or vocabulary mistakes. That’s what you need to know about me.
